Nick Collison put-back makes it 57-46 at the half - Clippers made up 6 points of the 17-point 1st Q deficit

Halftime: Thunder 57, Clippers 46. Kevin Durant leads all scorers with 19 points. Chris Paul leads the Clippers 13 points and 4 assists.
  • HALF: Thunder 57, #Clippers 46. @CP3 13 pts, 4 asts, 3 rebs, 2 stls. MORE STATS:… #OneTeamOneGoal

Griffin tips in a miss by Paul, but then Nick Collison flips in a miss at the end of the half. He followed the shot; no Clipper did. Westbrook is called for a technical as the teams leave the court, with OKC on top 57-46. There's no lack of physical contact in this game; a foul could be easily called on every possession.
  • Less than a second left in Q2 Nick Collison grabs rebound, tips in to give Thunder the 11-point halftime lead.
  • 5/11/2014 8:50:41 PM Mike.James
At the half, the Thunder is shooting 51%, the Clippers 40% on nine more shots than OKC. The Clippers have trimmed the Thunder's 22-point lead to 11. The importance of this game for LAC: Teams that have won Game 3 (as OKC did) to take a 2-1 series lead have won the series 76% of the time.

If the Clippers have two more quarters like the second, in which they outscored OKC 31-25, they'll win by one point. Scott Brooks has a great defensive plan to keep Griffin from asserting himself. Nothing has been easy for the Clippers' power forward. He's had no room to move.
  • 5/11/2014 8:59:00 PM Mike.James
One key stat that is usually the other way around for the Clippers: OKC has blocked six shots. The Clippers have blocked zero. Ibaka has scored only six points, but he's got four blocks already.  Again, DeAndre Jordan has been rendered pretty much ineffective.

And before play starts in the second half, Paul cuts the lead to 10 with a technical free throw, thanks to Westbrook. And, voila, Redick finally hits one to make it 57-49.

Durant fouled again on a three-point attempt by Barnes. Durant created it by stopping quickly and Barnes ran into him. It translates to three more points, Durant is now 11-11 from the line and the lead is 13.

Clippers starters vs. Thunder starters - just not working so far today
  • 5/11/2014 9:06:52 PM Eric Pincus
Chris Paul seems to be holding his ribs/side
  • 5/11/2014 9:07:41 PM melissa.rohlin
Durant is sent to the free throw line again. He's 11-for-11 so far.
  • 5/11/2014 9:08:00 PM Mike.James
Paul finds Jordan for an alley-oop dunk. That's become all-too-rare in this OKC series for the Clippers.
  • 5/11/2014 9:09:49 PM Eric Pincus
Clippers down 13 with the ball - a little over 20 minutes left int he game - plenty of time but they need to string stops together
  • 5/11/2014 9:11:10 PM Mike.James
That pass from Westbrook to Durant for the dunk came at a speed the Clippers haven't even approached in this game. That pushes the lead back to 15.
  • 8:01 3Q: Thunder 66, #Clippers 51. @blakegriffin32 11 pts, 5 rebs.
  • KD scores a quick 8 points already in third quarter. Thunder UP on Clippers 66-51, 8 mins left in qtr. Durant has 27

Magic Johnson in the crowd at Staples ... a place he said he'd never go for a Clippers game as long as Donald Sterling was the owner. He tells ESPN  he'd take a look at the Clippers when they go up for sale, but hardly commits to anything.
  • 5/11/2014 9:15:25 PM Mike.James
    Technically, he told ABC.
  • 5/11/2014 9:15:32 PM melissa.rohlin
Magic Johnson is being interviewed at the Clippers game. He was asked if he'd consider buying the team should Sterling be forced to sell. Said Johnson: "I would definitely take a look at it because I am a businessman."

Paul to Jordan, slam. And now, more adventures in free-throw shooting. Jordan takes a deep  breath ... bends his knees ... and clang. Off the back of the rim. He's 0-5 from the line.

Just thinking, I can't remember the last fastbreak basket by the Clippers.
  • 5/11/2014 9:19:08 PM melissa.rohlin
@mikejames Free throws have been a big difference in tonight's game. The Thunder are 18-for-23 (78%) while the Clippers are 6-for-14 (57%). Have a feeling that stat will become even more important down the stretch.
  • 5/11/2014 9:20:11 PM Eric Pincus
Clippers need to break something open -  opportunities there - not capitalizing
  • 5/11/2014 9:21:08 PM Eric Pincus
Big face-up jumper at end of shot clock for Griffin - Clippers badly needed that one - down 8 with 4:28 left
  • 5/11/2014 9:22:13 PM melissa.rohlin
The Clippers are on a 9-2 run, and have cut a once 22-point deficit to eight. OKC 68, Clippers 60 with 4:28 left in the third.
  • 5/11/2014 9:22:15 PM Eric Pincus
Doc was using Griffin earlier to guard Kevin Durant when Clippers go small with 3 guards - could be a problem later with Blake picking up an early 4th foul
  • 5/11/2014 9:22:49 PM Stacey.Leasca

  • 5/11/2014 9:23:43 PM Mike.James
The Clippers are hanging around; they just need some contributions from a few more people. Barnes is scoreless, Redick has been ineffective. If Griffin can make a couple of shots like the last 18-footer, that might open things up a bit inside.
  • 5/11/2014 9:25:50 PM Eric Pincus
JJ Redick out for Crawford - Redick missing a lot of open looks today
  • 5/11/2014 9:26:34 PM melissa.rohlin
Griffin picks up his 5th foul and is being subbed out of the game. Bad news for the Clippers.
  • 5/11/2014 9:26:41 PM Eric Pincus
    5th on Blake - that's a problem for LAC
  • 5/11/2014 9:26:53 PM Eric Pincus
Clippers could be in trouble over this final stretch of the third without Griffin
  • 5/11/2014 9:27:16 PM Mike.James
Griffin's fifth foul with 3:40 left in the third is good news for OKC. Durant then pushes the lead back to 10.

Jamal Crawford with a block on Caron Butler's three-point attempt - CP3 at line with chance to make it 8 - 2:17 left in period
  • 5/11/2014 9:29:48 PM Eric Pincus
Nick Collison blocked by the rim
  • 5/11/2014 9:31:21 PM Mike.James
The Clippers werer 7 for 26 in Game 3 on three-pointers; today they're 2 for 17, many on open looks. Not precisely the formula they were looking for.
