The skinny on Apple Watch:
The watch faces are customizable, as are the functionality and appearance of the faces. The watches also use swiping for navigation in conjunction with the digital crown.
With an upward swipe, you can glance at other information like calendar, world time, location, weather, music. The taptic engine subtly advises you of notifications. You just raise your wrist to receive and respond to the gentle tap notification. You can also record an audio response or use customizable animated emoji.
Siri is built into the watch. And you can view your photos on the watch. Favorites on your iPhone or Mac show up by default. Maps are available with a host of functionality including contextual search using force-tap. The directions are conveyed by gentle taps from the watch.
Digital Touch is triggered by the button under the crown. You can call or text or communicate by taps and even send pictures you draw with your finger on the watch face. Interesting element: You can send your actual heartbeat as detected by the watch.
WatchKit allows developers to create Apple Watch-specific notifications. Starwood, for instance, allows you to wave your watch as your room key. BMW lets you see the charge level of your car and location/directions back to car. Honeywell lets you control the temperature at home.
